Dr. Coggin received her BA in Biology from Auburn University in 1974. She pursued an advanced degree in Developmental Biology at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, Alabama, receiving her MS in 1976. She graduated from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry in 1982 and has practiced general dentistry for 30 years in Atlanta. She is a member of the American Dental Association, the Georgia Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the American College of Dentists, the Pierre Fauchard Academy, the Thomas P. Hinman Dental Society, the International College of Dentists and the Georgia Academy of Dental Practice. She has served as President of the Northwestern District of the Georgia Dental Association. She received the Committee Chair of the Year Award for the Georgia Dental Association’s 150th Anniversary Celebration and was named an Honorable Fellow in the Georgia Dental Association. She currently represents the American Dental Association’s Fifth District on the Council for Dental Benefit Programs sub-committee for the Code. As a part of her tasks with the Council, she provides continuing education lectures and workshops on the use of the Code. After her commitments to organized dentistry, she enjoys spending some relaxing time with her husband, two children and three grandchildren. She attends Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church, volunteers with the Circle for Children, Cobb County CAPS Dental Program for children and mentors to pre-dental students at her practice.
Dr. Alex Cole received his DMD from the Augusta University School of Dentistry and Oral health in 2016 and is thrilled to work side by side with his mother, Dr. Celeste Coggin. He is a member of the Thomas P. Hinman Dental Society, the American Dental Association, the Georgia Dental Association, and the proud recipient of the Quintessence Award for clinical and academic achievement. He is a graduate of the prestigious drama school at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA and has performed on Broadway and in multiple film and television roles. Outside of work, Alex enjoys spending time with his wife and playing frisbee with their dog River.
Dr. Alex Cole
Dr. Mitchell received her BA degree from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, in 1977. She graduated from the Ohio State Dental School, receiving her DDS degree in 1981. She completed a General Practice Residency at the V.A. Hospital in Atlanta in1982 and has practiced family dentistry in Georgia (Cobb County) for 30 years. She owned a busy solo practice in Marietta, which she later sold to spend more time at home when children were young. She continued to practice part time in that office after the sale. She joined the Coggin Dental Group in 2004. She is active in the American Dental Association, the Georgia Dental Association, the Northwestern District of the Georgia Dental Association, the Thomas P. Hinman Dental Society, Pierre Frauchard Society. Her leadership roles in the Georgia Dental Association include serving as an Alternate Delegate for the House of Delegates and Chair of the State Membership Committee. She has been married to her loving husband for 27 years and has two wonderful children. She enjoys her dental association leadership responsibilities, her church activities at the Church of the Apostles including leading home Bible study, her family time, jewelry making, scrapbooking, exercising, sewing, reading and cycling. She values her faith, her family and her relationship to her patients, both knowing them and being their dentist.
