Dr. Coggin received her BA in Biology from Auburn University in 1974.  She pursued an advanced degree in Developmental Biology at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, Alabama, receiving her MS in 1976.  She graduated from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry in 1982 and has practiced general dentistry for 30 years in Atlanta.  She is a member of the American Dental Association, the Georgia Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the American College of Dentists, the Pierre Fauchard Academy, the Thomas P. Hinman Dental Society, the International College of Dentists and the Georgia Academy of Dental Practice.  She has served as President of the Northwestern District of the Georgia Dental Association.  She received the Committee Chair of the Year Award for the Georgia Dental Association’s 150th Anniversary Celebration and was named an Honorable Fellow in the Georgia Dental Association.  She currently represents the American Dental Association’s Fifth District on the Council for Dental Benefit Programs sub-committee for the Code.  As a part of her tasks with the Council, she provides continuing education lectures and workshops on the use of the Code.  After her commitments to organized dentistry, she enjoys spending some relaxing time with her husband, two children and three grandchildren.  She attends Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church, volunteers with the Circle for Children, Cobb County CAPS Dental Program for children and mentors to pre-dental students at her practice.
